Asian American Dance Performances

Mission Statement

Asian American Dance Performances exists to provide a vehicle through which Asian Americans can express, interpret and articulate their diverse cultural heritages and experiences through dance.

Brief History

Founded in response to the civil rights activism and racial tensions of the mid-70’s, Asian American Dance Performances (AADP) was formed to forward social change in the perception and participation of the Asian American diaspora in dance performance. From the roots of classic and traditional dance, a majority of AADP dance expression grew to develop a stronger inclusion in the mainstream forms of ballet and modern. Three decades later, a new era of multi-cultural activity re-examines the radical roots of tradition, including contemporary artists developing fusion forms, and challenging the boundaries of diversity that thrive within the Asian American landscape. AADP has a longstanding relationship providing opportunities to a diverse Asian community.
